Columbine

They won. They wanted to die, they wanted to kill, they wanted revenge and they wanted to become legends.

They failed to blow up their school but all the other things, they accomplished. For many bullied teenagers, they are icons. Martyrs. Just like music, funerals and wedding ceremonies, suicide and mental unhealth follows certain cultural patterns. Columbine and other school shootings creates role models. A tradition in which to carry out what was without them only a vauge dream of vengance.

Many young people are bullied att school. Those who have never suffered it don't understand what it does to a person to be forced every morning to return to a place where those who were supposed to be your pack, your group, are openly hostile to you. We humans, escpecially the young ones, are pack animals and we are suprisingly wulnerable to systematical petty humiliation. Especially the young ones, because they know nothing else.

They were special boys. Many victims dream of revenge. Some dream of revenge by violence but for a Columbine massacre to happen, it takes very special people, very abnormal people. In this case a budding psychopat and his suicidal friend. (Be careful with who you pick on. Psychopats are not a good choice for a victim, they tend to take it very seriously.)

I don't support school shootings. I don't applause them, that is not my intention. Perhaps the most important; I am not the least intrested in carrying one out myself. I want to put it what they did into perspective. Until scocial science comes up with a very effective way of ward off systematical harrassment in education facilities and work places, this will happen a little now and then. School shootings are a logical consequense of modern education.

Almost a year after uploading it for the first time, I have shamelessly and without asking anyone for advice, updated the devitation with a whole new version of the image. In my opinion, the new one is better to the former.
